That said, there are many tips and informatoin we would like to share to make sure you enjoy your adventure to the fullest. With so much to see and locations to explore, lets point you in the right direction and give ya few hidden secrets along the way.
St. Mary Village- 1/4 mile walk from Divide Creek Campground
A small village setting at the gateway to Glacier National Park. Prairies, mountains, and forests all converge here to create a diverse and rich habitat for plants and animals. The open meadows surrounded by dense forests can afford some great opportunities for wildlife viewing.
St. Mary Lake, its surface often riffled by the wind, spans almost 10 miles (16 m). A drive along St. Mary Lake provides some of the most incredible vistas available in the park. Bordering the Blackfeet Reservation, Native American history and culture is strong in the St. Mary Valley. Blackfeet, Salish, and Kootenai tribal members participate in the park’s Native American Speaks programs. These programs feature award winning performing artists and local drummers and dancers at the St. Mary Visitor Center.

Traveling over Going to the Sun Highway…
Due to very little clearance with oncoming traffic, vehicles (and vehicles in combination with trailers) longer than 21 feet (including bumpers) or wider than 8 feet (including mirrors), are prohibited between Avalanche Campground and the Sun Point parking area. Also, due to rock overhangs, vehicles over 10 feet in height may have difficult to try driving west from Logan pass to the The Loop.
– Make sure you get to the trail entrance early ( before 8:30 a.m. ) in the day…parking is limited especially on Going to the Sun Highway. Shuttles are available every ½ hr to and from the visitors center at the entrance to park in St. Mary.
We suggest using the shuttle to eliminate the hassel of fighting traffic and saving time getting to your destination
St. Mary’s Visitors Center: Evening Program – listen and learn about Glacier with a ranger inside the Visitor Center.
Native America Speaks Program – Native American hosted programs.
